Are you excited about the summer movie season? Okay, anyway, whether you are or not...are you excited about any of these movies coming out?

Movies I will not include on this poll:
1. The Dark Knight. We’re all going to go see it, right? Yes, there is the obvious reason of needing to see this as it was Heath's last film in addition to Heath putting everything into this role, at least that’s a major reason for me. That alone will get me into the theater to see this, and I'm already counting down the days. However, this film also has Christian Bale and (sigh, gasp, squeal) Gary Oldman in it.
2. The Love Guru. Plugging your film on American Idol…epic failure. Mike Myers is so annoying. He keeps using the same Wayne character for every dumb film he makes. I’ll give him Austin Powers, that was original but…
3. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. See above.
4. Any animated film. Sometimes, people bash animated films and the people who enjoy animated films. That’s okay, but I don’t feel like these films getting bashed right now (or myself for that matter). I will go see them. I will take children and toddlers to go see them, and I will laugh uncontrollably and enjoy every single second of it, no matter that my soul slowly seeps out of my visceral body as I do so. I don’t care…(Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E).

I actually think it’s kind of cool when a rock star makes a cameo or even has a full-on role in a major motion picture. I also think it’s cool that some rock stars seem to make that criss-cross over better than actors wanting to be rock stars. I mean Eminem’s film “8 Mile” seemed to do a lot better than any of Dogstar’s album ???? See, I don’t even know. I mean, I know Keanu Reeves, and I do enjoy most of his movies, but the music…not so much. Or, some musicians even have really poignant and profound roles that they pull off very well. How about Dwight Yokam in Sling Blade? Do we know, however, the name of Billy Bob Thornton’s band? Yup, that’s what I thought. Flea has had some pretty interesting roles as well; for example, in The Big Lebowski and Suburbia; and although I don’t think he was stretching very far, I did enjoy his part in My Own Private Idaho. Let’s see, what are some albums by Dogstar? Anyone? One of my personal favorites Tom Waits had roles in Coffee and Cigarettes and The Fisher King and even in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Again, what is any album or single by Dogstar? I mean, even Madonna had a promising start in the movies, and Desperately Seeking Susan is one of my favorite movies ever; however, what love can do to rather respectable players in Hollywood. Right, Sean? (Shanghai Surprise). Right, Guy? (Swept Away).
So, in an alternate universe if I had the ability and an unlimited supply of money, resources, and equipment; immunity from harsh criticism from movie buffs, critics, and fans alike; and the patience to remake some movies, what rock stars would I cast in the lead roles? As you’ll notice, I’ve chosen some that get a lot of discussion here, because I figure these would be the rock stars that might bring in the biggest audiences…but remember, this is an alternate universe. What role and rock star do you think would be the best cast? Or, do you have another rock and role in mind?

One of the unfortunate side effects of the writer's strike is the glut of reality TV fodder. Now, I'm not going to be a pop culture elitist. I like me some reality TV. One of my most guilty and pleasurable diversions is American Idol (I'm in full Idol mode now---it consumes me). I also love Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet, but that's just me.

However, when I saw the tease for Paradise Hotel coming back....ahhhh!!!! And, it just made me wonder---how low can they go....apparently below sea level. I've rounded up a few of the worst. Let's see what you think.
